To all Medicare Beneficiaries:
Medicare recently approved a moratorium on spending to
physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy starting January
1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. There is combined cap of $1,880.00 per
year for speech and physical therapy. Occupational therapy has its
own cap of $1,880.00. This means that once Medicare has paid
$1,880.00, out of pocket, they will no longer cover physical therapy,
speech or occupational therapy. Some diagnosis are excepted from
this cap, talk to your physical therapist for more information.
It is important that you let us know if you have had any
physical therapy or speech therapy services this year. We will do
our best to keep you apprised of any changes, but until the moratorium is
lifted, we have to agree to these changes. We will also keep you
informed as to your balance with Medicare. This is not any easy
task, as there are delays with billing, and problems with billing.
The Sports and Rehab Clinic is committed to providing
quality care, but also realizes that this may put limitations on our
services. We feel we offer excellent care and hope that we can work
through this challenge. The patient and PT will have to work
together to devise a plan that works best for all. We do provide our
services on a cash basis.
Thank you for being patient with us. And please
let us know if you have any questions regarding this matter.
